Q:Thanks for doing what you're doing. I know you are empowering a lot of goths out there who are ashamed or scared to be who they are because of the ridiculously unfair standards of the goth community as a whole. I am a goth of mixed race myself but thankfully my "gothness" was nurtured and encouraged by friends who only saw me as me. Others may not be so fortunate so please keep this up. :)
Thank you! We hope to keep the blog going for as long as possible! <3
Q:Just a thought - could we swap the acronyms in the about section for their full terms? As in 'people of colour' rather than POC? It would make things more inclusive for people new to such terminology, is all.
Hmmm, good point! I’ll go change that now.
Q:As a transguy who actually would like to pass for male sometimes, I find it hard to choose between my love of girly-er goth clothes, and my desire to be seen as male. Girl clothes are just more fun than guys, let's face it! :( Anyone else have this problem? Or some advice?
Any trans men following us want to give some advice?
(Please send your messages to i-dream-of-eclectic-sheep.)
Q:what are pos and cis? //dumbass anon
Don’t feel bad anon! POC stands for people/person of color, and cis is short for cisgender (which means a person who isn’t trans).
Q:I'm so glad I found this blog! THANK YOU :D
Yay! (I feel weird saying you’re welcome or something so we’re glad you found us!)
Q:AWESOME BLOG! <3333 It's so refreshing to not only see this 'standard' goths (skinny/white/abled etc.). It think it shows in a very nice way that this sbuculture isn't actually so elitist as it may seem :) Lots of love from germany! ♥
Thank you!! :3
Q:I would like to say that I love your blog. I don't feel comfortable submitting myself, since even though I'm genderfluid and queer, I still pass as your typical, average-sized white femme alt-girl you see so much of on tumblr. I can fit in other places, and this is supposed to be for those who aren't as represented at those other places. But I love and support everyone who posts here and think you're all (followers and mods) frickin' awesome! <3
Thanks so much for your support!! <333
Q:I'm the "it" pronoun-using person in question. I really don't find it particularly helpful when other trans people concern troll my preferred pronoun. Especially not when they say things like "I respect you too much to ever call you an it!" Um, what? You respect me too much to use my preferred pronoun? 'It' is the only pronoun I have ever found, ever, that makes me feel like I am actually being referred to, any other pronoun and it's like "who are you talking about?"
Q:How might I be able to reach out to those who make submissions on your blog, if it is at all possible? thank you :)
If you click on the permalink for a post, at the bottom of all the notes there should be one that says, “[x] submitted this to blacksheepgoths” and you’ll be able to click on their name (if they have a tumblr) and go to their blog page! You can message them from there.
I’m not sure about people who submitted without a tumblr. I think it will display the name they used to submit (if they didn’t just put in “anonymous”), so you might be able to google it and find them.
Hope this helps!
Q:Oh, OK. I was just curious is all. :) It's just that "It" is usually one of the worst ways that someone can describe a Trans person. But if that is how they prefer to be addressed as then that's cool.
No problem! Maybe in the future if we get anymore submissions like that we’ll make a note about it. Thank you for bringing this up to us! We want to make this a safe place and if anyone has any concerns about things like this, we encourage them to write to us.
